That being said, I am happy to announce that the winner in the male category is Mr. Brad Smith. Brad had a fun and touching entry that seemed to follow a common theme for a lot of men who are young fathers. When I spoke with Brad after his entry it became clear to me that this was way more than just a vanity issue as he said that "he doesn't take his shirt off in public as he is very self-conscious about it." Below is Brad's entry. We encourage you to check back for Brad's blog starting the week of September 15th and to ask him any questions you may have along the way. He will be writing every 2 weeks to update you on his progress.
Brad's Story:
I have been blessed or cursed depending on how you
look at it with lots of hair in many places that I would rather not. At age
16, I had to ask my mom to wax my back so I felt comfortable enough to
change in the locker rooms while playing hockey, never mind going to the
pool. At age 26, the bi-monthly ritual was passed onto my wife. This only
lasted a couple of years and then I was forced to either be the gorilla at
the pool of go to the salon to have it done. Of course I chose the second
so I would not be "that guy". Recently our one year old has learned to walk
using the hair on my chest which surprisingly hurts more than waxing. About
a month ago, my two year old was having a tough time sleeping and wanted her
daddy to sleep with her. So as any good daddy would do I splet in her kids
bed and she started to pet my back. The next thing I knew she was half a
sleep saying "good puppy, nice puppy" stroking the hair on my back as if I
was one of the two dogs we have. So I need your help removing my hair
forever and restoring the faith in my daughter that I am her father and not
a puppy dog.
